After finishing his residency training at Nassau University Medical Center a major affiliate of State University of New York, Dr. Affan served for 1 year as the chief resident in his residency program, selected by the hospital administration and his peers for the quality of leadership and academic performance. During his residency training, Dr. Affan received the 2001 Beth Seaton Award for the best resident of the year. Dr. Affan’s extensive international experience is the groundwork for his approach. During his medical education, he was an active member and student leader of the International Federation of Medical Students Associations (IFMSA). He worked as a consultant for many international projects aiming at the welfare of children around the globe, gained first-hand knowledge of just about every disease and condition that newborns, children and adolescents can face.
